ImageThe Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of changes in prices of goods and services within the household basket[1]. In Rwanda the CPI is a Modified Laspeyres index that currently measures changes in prices of 1,136 goods and services in five provinces in Rwanda.    

1. General information 

Objectives

The CPI is an instrument that measures inflation. It permits measuring average price changes of items consumed by households between two periods. It is also a measure of the evolution of prices for a particular quality of a product.
 


[1] A household basket includes goods and services that a typical household in Rwanda consumes in a given reference period.
