Metadata refers to information about the data (what, when, where and how statistics are generated). The NISR provides these information to data users to guide them in the search, selection, use, analysis and interpretation of official statistics. Examples of these are in the form of Definitions and Technical Notes. 1. GDP Growth Rate: is the annual percentage change of constant. GDP. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total market value of all final goods and services produced in a country in a given year. It is equal to the total consumer, investment and government spending, plus the value of exports,minus the value of imports. 2. Percentage of population below poverty line: The number of people below the poverty line, expressed as a percentage of total population. The overall poverty line is defined on the basis of food poverty line and non-food poverty line. 3. Gini coefficient: It is a measure used to quantify the inequality of income/expenditure distribution. It is a ratio with values between 0 and 1. 4. Percentage of Population in Extreme Poverty: The number of people living in extreme poverty, expressed as a percentage of total population.
5. Total Fertility Rate (TFR): It is an age-period fertility rate for a synthetic cohort of women. It measures the average number of births a group of women would have by the time they reach age 50 if they were to give birth at the current age-specific fertility rates. The TFR is expressed as the average number of births per woman. For current fertility rates, the DHS survey uses the period 1-36 months before the survey. Infant Mortality Rate (IMR): It is the probability (expressed as a rate per 1000 live births) of a childborn in a three-year period preceding the survey date dying before reaching the age of one. Maternal Mortality Rate: Number of female siblings of respondents who died during pregnancy, delivery or within two months of delivery in the period 0-6, 7-13 and 0-13 years prior to the interview by five-year age group at time of death.Maternal deaths of sisters 50 years and older are added to the number of maternal death of sisters 45-49 years.
