Rwanda prepares for the 5th demographic and health survey

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) with the technical support of ICF-MACRO is implementing the Fifth Rwandan Demographic and Health Survey (RDHS-V).

Rwanda awarded the 2014 Geospatial World Excellence Award

Rwanda has been selected by an external panel of judges to receive the ‘Geospatial World Excellence Award 2014’ for Policy and Programs in regards to the 4th Population and Housing Census of Rwanda (RPHC4), conducted in August 2012.

NISR - For accurate, evidence-based planning and development

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) recently released the final results of the Fourth Population and Housing Census that among others indicated that general life expectancy had reached 64.5 years in 2012 from 51.2 years in 2002. The report put national population at 10.5 million showing an increase of 2.4 million in 10 years with an annual average growth rate of 2.6 per cent.

Background and  Competition overview:

Every year in November, the African statistical community celebrates the African Statistics Day (ASD) with the objective of raising public awareness about the importance of statistics in the economic and social development of the continent. The decision of celebrating ASD every year was taken since 1990 by the twenty-fifth session of the United Nations Economic for Africa and the Sixteenth Meeting of African ministers responsible for Economic Planning and development.
