Rwanda's inflation is 19.3 pct year on year in March 2023

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 19.3 percent year on year in March 2023 down from 20.8 percent in February 2023.

In March 2023, Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 41.3 percent on annual basis and increased by 4.3 percent on monthly basis. ‘Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics’ increased by 23.6 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.7 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 12 percent on annual basis and was stable on monthly basis.

The data also show the “local products” increased by 20.8 percent on annual change and increased by 2.2 percent on monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 14.8 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.6 percent on monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 53 percent on annual change and increased by 5.3 percent on monthly basis.

The prices of the “energy” increased by 7.3 percent on annual change and increased by 0.8 percent on monthly basis.

The prices of the “general Index excluding fresh products and energy” increased by 12.2 percent on annual change and increased by 0.8 percent on monthly basis.
