Mrs. Caroline ISHIMWE is the Acting Director of the Statistical Methods, Research, and Publications (SMRP) Department at the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), a role she has held since July 2026.

She has over nine years of experience in official statistics, research, census operations, and data-driven decision-making. Before her current role, she served as an Establishment Census Specialist, where she contributed to the planning and implementation of major statistical activities, including establishment censuses, Imihigo evaluations, SDG monitoring, and the development of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS).

Mrs. Ishimwe holds a Master’s degree in Big Data Analytics from the Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA).

She is passionate about strengthening the use of data and innovation to improve statistical production and support evidence-based decisions. In her current role, she leads efforts to enhance statistical methodologies, research, publications, and quality assurance within the SMRP Department.
