Mr MURENZI Ivan
Mr. MURENZI Ivan is the Director General of the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), a position he has held since June 2024. He previously served as Deputy Director General at NISR from April 2017. A statistician and economist with over 20 years of experience, Mr. MURENZI has expertise in policy research, data collection, and analysis.
Before joining NISR, he worked for six years at Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR) as a Financial Inclusion Specialist and later as Head of Digital Services. Prior to joining AFR, he held positions in government institutions, research organizations, and private consulting firms such as PwC and the Institute of Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR). He also serves as a board member of the National Bank of Rwanda and a member of its Monetary Policy Committee.
Mr. MURENZI holds a Master’s degree in Policy Economics from the Centre of Development Economics, Williams College, Massachusetts, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Makerere University, Uganda.
