During the data collection for Season A 2026, the SAS was carried out across all 30 districts of the country, gathering data from 1,200 segments and 554 large-scale farmers. The season’s data collection started on December 1st, 2025, and concluded on February 18th, 2026.

The total land area of the country is estimated to be 2.376 million hectares, with 1.376 million hectares (approximately 58% of the total land area) used for agricultural purposes. In 2026 Season A, 1.043 million hectares were allocated to Seasonal crops, 0.501 million hectares were allocated to permanent crops, while 0.084 million hectares were allocated to permanent pasture.

In Season A of 2026, 37% of farmers used improved seeds. Among farmer types, 35.2% of small-scale farmers (SSF) and 82.6% of large-scale farmers (LSF) adopted improved seeds. Organic fertilizer was applied by 90.2% of farmers, including 90.4% of SSF and 83.6% of LSF. Inorganic fertilizer was used by 67.2% of all farmers, with 66.3% of SSF and 89.6% of LSF applying it.

Additionally, 46.9 % of farmers applied pesticides during Season A 2026. Disaggregated by farmer type, pesticide was used by 45.2 % of small-scale farmers and 91.4 % of large-scale farmers.

In Season A 2026, 14.4 % of farmers practiced irrigation, 92.4 % reported applying at least one anti-erosion measure across their plots, 53.4 % practiced agroforestry, and 1.7 % used mechanical equipment in their agricultural activities.
