In November 2025 (Q4), the working age population (16 years and above) was estimated to be 8.6 million. Out of this population 4.9 million were employed, 646 thousand were unemployed, and 3.1 million were out of labour force.

The employment-to-population ratio (EPR) increased to 56.7 % in November 2025 (Q4), from 54.6 % in November 2024 (Q4).

The labour underutilization rate stood at 56.5 % in November 2025 (Q4). It was higher among females (63.4%) than males (49.2 %) and higher among youth (57.1 %) than adults (56.1 %). 

In August 2025 (Q3), the working age population (16 years and above) was around 8.6 million of whom around 4.9 million were employed, 754 thousand were unemployed, and 2.9 million were out of labour force. 

The employment-to-population ratio (EPR) increased to 57% in August 2025 (Q3), up from 54.3 % in August 2024 (Q3). The unemployment rate stood at 13.4 % indicating that roughly for every 7 persons in the labour force, there was one person unemployed. 

The labour underutilization rate stood at 56.7 % in August 2025 (Q3). It was higher among females (64.7 %) than males (48.3 %) and higher among youth (57.8 %) than adults (55.8 %). 

In quarter 2, 2024, total domestic exports increased by 11.65 percent when compared to the second quarter of 2023 (US$ 541.10 million and US$ 484.64 million respectively) and increased by 23.32 percent when compared to the first quarter of 2024. 

Total imports of Rwanda increased by 17.19 percent in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same quarter of 2023 (US$ 1,814.47 million and US$ 1548.30 million respectively) and by 2.58 percent over the first quarter of 2024. Re-exports decreased by 0.14 percent in the second quarter of 2024 over the same quarter of 2023 (US$ 164.00 million and US$ 164.23 million respectively) and by 4.03 percent compared to the first quarter of 2024.
