The Rwanda Vital Statistics Report 2024 reveals important insights into the causes of death across the country, pointing to a growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), both in health facilities and in community settings.

Birth registration completeness at the national level remained relatively stable with rates 90.0% in 2023 and 90.3% in 2024. Births registered beyond one year are considered delayed registrations. The trend in timely birth registration from 2019 to 2024.

The total fertility rate for the 3 years preceding the survey is 4.1 children per woman (3.4 in urban areas and 4.3 in rural areas).The median birth interval in Rwanda is 40.8 months.
