Rwanda’s trade deficit increased by 3 pct in Q2, 2016
Rwanda’s total trade amounted to US$ 626.53 million, higher by 2.59 per cent over the second quarter of 2015 was made up Exports worth of US$ 92.24 million, imports of US$ 483.86 million and re-exports valued at US$ 50.43 million. The total imports of Rwanda increased by 2.80 per cent compared to the same quarter of 2015 and Domestic exports decreased by 1.76 per cent compared to the same quarter of 2015.
The top five exported commodities in terms of value were: “Other unwrought gold (incl. gold plated with platinum), non-monetary” (US$ 14.20 million), “Other black tea (fermented) and other partly fermented tea (US$ 14.17 million)”, “Niobium, vanadium ores, tantalum and concentrates (US$ 11.27 million) , “Tin ores and concentrates” (US$ 7.98 million) and “Black tea (fermented) and partly fermented tea, in immediate packing of a content not exceeding 3 kgs (6.61Ib) ” (US$ 7.76 million).
