Rwanda posts -0.07 pct annual growth in producer price index
Rwanda’s general producer price index, combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual growth of -0.07 percent in the second quarter of 2018 compared with the same period of 2017, while on quarterly basis it decreased by 0.38 percent compared with the first quarter.
The main drivers for these changes were manufacturing, mining and quarrying activities.
In the meanwhile the index for local products registered a decrease of -2.26 percent in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the index of the same quarter of 2017, and a decrease of 0.08 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter. The main driver for these changes was manufacturing activities.
Finally, the index for exports registered an increase of 8.03 percent in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the index of the same quarter of 2017, and an increase of 0.19 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter. The main drivers for these changes were non-ferrous metal ores, and tea products.
