Rwanda's CPI up 0.2 pct year on year in September 2014

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 0.2 percent year on year in September 2014, down from 0.9 percent in August 2014.

In September 2014, “clothing and footwear”,” Education” and “Restaurants and hotels” rose by 8.7, 7.1 and 5.8 percent year on year, respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” decreased by 0.2 percent on annual change and it is increased by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 2.1 percent on annual change with a monthly change of 1.2 percent.

The prices of the “fresh products” had a negative annual change of 11.3 percent between September 2014 and September 2013.
