Rwanda's CPI up 1.4 pct year on year in January 2015

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 1.4 percent year on year in January 2015, down from 2.1 percent in December 2014.

In January 2015, Food and non-alcoholic beverages’, “housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels” and “Restaurant and Hotels” rose by 1.2 percent, 3.7 percent and 4.7 percent year on year, respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 1.8 percent on annual change and it decreased by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” was stable on annual basis and decreased by 0.9 on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by0.5 percent between January 2015 and January 2014.
