Rwanda's CPI up 1.4 pct year on year in June 2014

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, increased 1.4 percent year on year in June 2014, down from 1.9 percent in May 2014.

In June 2014, “food and non alcoholic beverages”,” Education” and “Restaurants and hotels” rose by 1.9, 7.1 and 7.8 percent year on year, respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 2.1 percent on annual change with a monthly change of -0.1 percent, while prices of the “imported products” decreased by 0.4 percent on annual change with a monthly change of -1.8 percent.

The prices of the “fresh products” had a negative annual change of 0.5 percent between June 2014 and June 2013.
