Rwanda's CPI up 2.1 pct year on year in December 2014

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 2.1 percent year on year in December 2014, up from 0.7 percent in November 2014.
In December 2014, Food and non-alcoholic beverages’, “housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels” and “Education” rose by 0.7 percent, 3.7 percent and 7.4 percent year on year, respectively.
 
The data also show the “local goods” increased by 2.2 percent on annual change and it decreased by 0.4 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 1.6 percent on annual change and was stable on a monthly basis.
 
The prices of the “fresh products” had a negative annual change of 1.3 percent between December 2014 and December 2013.
