Rwanda's CPI up 2.2 pct year on year in May 2015
Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 2.2 percent year on year in May 2015, up from 0.9 percent in April 2015.
In May 2015,‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ and ‘Housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ rose by 3.8 percent and 4.5 percent respectively while Transport decreased by 2.5 percent.
The data also show the “local goods” increased by 2.8 percent on annual change and increased by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 0.6 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis.
The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 3.9 percent between May 2015 and May 2014.
