Rwanda's CPI up 3.7pct year on year in September 2015

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 3.7 percent year on year in September 2015, up from3.0 percent in August 2015.

In September 2015,‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’,‘Alcoholic beverages , tobacco and narcotics’and ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’rose by 5.6 percent,10.0 percent and 5.7 percent respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 4.3 percent on annual change andincreased by 1.5 percenton a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 1.8 percent on annual basis andincreased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by9.0percent on annual change and increased by 4.0 on a monthly basis.
