Rwanda's CPI up 3.8 pct year on year in September 2017

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 3.8 percent year on year in September 2017 up from 3.2 percent in August 2017.

In September 2017, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 8.3 percent, 2.4 percent and 1.5 percent respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 3.8 percent on annual change and increased by 1.3 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 3.7 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 7.3 percent on annual change and increased by 5.5 percent on a monthly basis.
