Rwanda's CPI up 5.5 pct year on year in June 2016

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 5.5 percent year on year in June 2016 up from 4.6 percent in May 2016.

In June 2016, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’,  ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 9.4 percent, 2.9 percent and 7.0 percent respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 6.1 percent on annual change and increased by 1.0 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 3.9 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 12.0 percent on annual change and increased by 2.5 percent on a monthly basis.
