Rwanda's CPI up 5.8 pct year on year in September 2016

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 5.8 percent year on year in September 2016 down from 6.4 percent in August 2016.

In September2016, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’,‘Restaurants and hotels’and Transport rose by 11.2 percent, 6.2 percent and 8.7 percent respectively.The data also show the “local goods” increased by 5.9 percent on annual change and increased by 0.7 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 5.6 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis.

The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 12.4 percent on annual change and increased by 2.0 percent on a monthly basis.
