Rwanda's inflation is 13.9 percent year on year in September 2023
Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 13.9 percent year on year in September 2023 up from 12.3 percent in August 2023.
In September 2023, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 29.6 percent on annual basis and increased by 9 percent on monthly basis. ‘Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics’ increased by 12.2 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.2 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 5.9 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.8 percent on monthly basis.
The data also show the “local products” increased by 15.6 percent on annual change and increased by 4.2 percent on monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 8.8 percent on annual basis and increased by 1.8 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 37.1 percent on annual change and increased by 12.3 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “energy” increased by 3.1 percent on annual change and increased by 1.7 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “general Index excluding fresh products and energy” increased by 8.3 percent on annual change and increased by 1 percent on monthly basis.
