Rwanda's inflation grew 0.9 pct in August 2014

Rwanda's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, grew 0.9 percent year on year in August 2014, the same pace as a month earlier. Food prices, which account for more than one fourth of the weighting in the CPI calculation weights in urban areas, decline 0.3 percent year on year in August, down from +2.5 percent in July.

In August 2014, "clothing and footwear"," Education" and "Restaurants and hotels" rose by 5.8, 7.1 and 6.3 percent year on year, respectively.

The data also show the "local goods" increased by 1.0 percent on annual change and it is stable on a monthly basis, while prices of the "imported products" increased by 1.1 percent on annual change with a monthly change of 0.7 percent.

The prices of the "fresh products" had a negative annual change of 5.6 percent between August 2014 and August 2013.
