Formal external trade in Goods report (Q4,2023)
In the fourth quarter of 2023, Rwanda’s total trade was US$ 2159.86million, an increase of 6.86 percent over the fourth quarter of 2022. Domestic exports are US$ 400.06 million; imports were US$ 1600.24 million and re-exports were US$ 159.55 million.

The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 367.20 million in December 2023, an increase of 20.07 percent compared to the previous month of November. Year-to-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 46.95 percent on the deficit of December 2022.

In the third quarter of 2023, Rwanda’s total trade was US$ 2,116.57 million, an increase of 4.34 percent over the third quarter of 2022. Domestic exports were US$ 367.61 million; imports were US$ 1,575.95 million and re-exports were US$ 172.99 million.

The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 305.83 million in November 2023, a decrease of 5.88 percent compared to the previous month of October. Year-to-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 23.12 percent on the deficit of November 2022.

The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 324.93 million in October 2023, a decrease of 14.37 percent compared to the previous month of September. Year-to-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 2.20 percent on the deficit of October 2022.

The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 379.47 million in September 2023, an increase of 12.50 percent compared to the previous month of August. Year-to-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 4.88 percent on the deficit of September 2022.

The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 337.31 million in August 2023, an increase of 6.96 percent compared to the previous month of July. Year-to-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 2 percent on the deficit of August 2022.

In the second quarter of 2023, Rwanda’s total trade was US$ 2,197.02 million, an increase of 24.34 percent over the second quarter of 2022. Domestic exports were US$ 484.64 million; imports were US$ 1,548.80 million and re-exports were US$ 164.23 million.

The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 315.37 million in July 2023, an increase of 9.23 per cent compared to the previous month of June. Year-over-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 1.92 per cent on the deficit of July 2022.
