During the data collection for Season B 2026, the SAS was carried out across all 30 districts of the country, gathering data from 1,200 segments and 505 large-scale farmers. The season’s data collection started on April 19th, 2026, and concluded on June 28th, 2026.
The total land area of the country is estimated to be 2.376 million hectares, with 1.414 million hectares (approximately 59% of the total land area) used for agricultural purposes. In 2026 Season B, 1.022 million hectares were allocated to Seasonal crops, 0.526 million hectares were allocated to permanent crops, while 0.083 million hectares were allocated to permanent pasture.
In Season B of 2026, 20.9% of farmers used improved seeds. Among farmer types, 19.4% of small-scale farmers (SSF) and 65% of large-scale farmers (LSF) adopted improved seeds. Organic fertilizer was applied by 81.3% of farmers, including 81.7% of SSF and 71.3% of LSF. Inorganic fertilizer was used by 57.5% of all farmers, with 56.7% of SSF and 80.2% of LSF applying it.
Additionally, 39.1 % of farmers applied pesticides during Season B 2026. Disaggregated by farmer type, pesticide was used by 37.7 % of small-scale farmers and 80 % of large-scale farmers.
In Season B 2026, 13.1 % of farmers practiced irrigation, 58 % practiced agroforestry, and 1.8 % used mechanical equipment in their agricultural activities.
