The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) has celebrated the 2016 African Statistics Day (ASD) on 18th November 2016, under the theme: “Data revolution: Strengthening statistics for regional integration, structural transformation and sustainable development”. During this event, NISR has awarded the winners of NISR Infographic Competition on the "Situation of adolescents in Rwanda: Health and Economic Status".
The African Statistics Day was adopted in May 1990 by the Sixteenth Meeting of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Conference of African Ministers responsible for Planning and Economic Development, to be celebrated each year in order to increase public awareness about the important role which statistics play in all aspects of social and economic life of our countries.
The 2016 ASD celebration has been an occasion to strengthen engagement with private sector towards the development of statistics in Rwanda. (END)
