NISR has conducted the Seasonal Agriculture Survey to provide more comprehensive data on the Rwandan agriculture sector. During 2024 Season B, the data collection activities started from April 21st, 2024, and was concluded on August 15th, 2024, covering 1,200 segments and 384 large scale farmers’ holdings across the country.

The total country land area is estimated at 2.376 million hectares for which 1.350 million hectares (57% of total country land) is used for agriculture. Out of the total agricultural land, 0.987 million hectares were used for Seasonal crops in season B, 0.513 million hectares is the area under permanent crops, while 0.116 million hectares are under permanent pasture. Overall, there was an increase in the production of major crops compared to Season B of the previous year.
