Rwanda's CPI up 1.9 pct year on year in May 2014

Rwanda's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, has risen 1.9 percent year on year in May 2014, down from 2.72 percent in April 2014.

In May 2014, “food and non alcoholic beverages” rose 3.0 percent year on year, while prices of “Restaurants and hotels” moved up 10.6.

The data also show the “local goods” increased by 2.3 percent on annual change with a monthly change of -0.7 percent, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 0.9 percent on annual change with a monthly change of -0.2 percent.

The prices of the “fresh products” had a positive annual change of 3.0 percent between May 2014 and May 2013.
