Rwanda's GDP up by 7.6 pct in Q1, 2015
Rwanda's gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 7.6 percent for in the first quarter of 2015, compared with the same quarter of the previous year and it totalled Rwf 1,377 billion Rwandan Francs.
In the first quarter (Q1) of 2015, the Services sector contributed 48 percent of GDP while the agriculture sector contributed 31 percent of the GDP. The industry sector contributed 15 percent of GDP, and 5 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes less subsidies on products.
Figures showed that “Agriculture sector” grew by 4 percent and contributed 1.3percentage points to the overall GDP growth. Activities in the “industry sector” grew by 7 percent and contributed 1 percentage points to the GDPgrowth. “Service sector” increased by 8 percent and contributed 4.1 percentage points to the GDP growth.
It said that exports increased by 20 percent, while imports increased by 10 percent.
