GDP National Accounts (First Quarter 2022)
In the first quarter of 2022, GDP at current market prices was estimated to be Frw 3,025 billion, up from Frw 2,588 billion in Q1 2021. In this quarter, services sector contributed 47 percent of GDP,agriculture sector contributed 23 percent of the GDP, Industry sector contributed 22 percent of the GDP and 8 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes and subsidies on products.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) - May 2022
Urban CPI increased by 12.6 percent on annual basis (May 2022 and May 2021) and increased by 1.9 percent on monthly basis (May 2022 to April 2022). The annual average inflation rate between May 2022 and May 2021 was 3.5 percent.
Producer Price Index Report,April 2022
Rwanda’s general Producer Price Index combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 14.1 percent in April 2022. Monthly general PPI increased by 0.8 percent. Local PPI increased by 11.2 percent in April 2022, and Export PPI increased by 24.5 percent in April 2022.
Formal external trade in Goods report (April 2022)
The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 230.35 million in April 2022, an increase of 3.53 per cent compared to the previous month of March 2022. Year-over-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 43.61 per cent on the deficit of April 2021.

In April 2022, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) shows that, industrial output (formal sector) decreased by 0.3 percent compared to April 2021, against an increase of 15.4 percent on annual average basis.

Urban CPI increased by 9.9 percent on annual basis (April 2022 and April 2021) and increased by 2.4 percent on monthly basis (April 2022 to March 2022). The annual average inflation rate between April 2022 and April 2021 was 2.4 percent.

The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 222.50 million in March 2022, an increase of 43.38 per cent compared to the previous month of February 2022. Year-over-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 15.54 per cent on the deficit of March 2021
