Urban CPI increased by 1.9 percent on annual basis and was stable on monthly basis. The annual average inflation rate between July 2019 and July 2018 was 0.8 percent.
Index of Industrial Production (formal activity) June 2019
In June 2019, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) shows that: industrial output (formal sector) increased by 3.2 percent compared to June 2018, against 14.7 percent in May 2019 when compared to May 2018.

In May 2019, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) shows that: industrial output (formal sector) increased by 14.7 percent compared to May 2018, against 18.4 percent in April 2019 when compared to April 2018.
Formal external trade in Goods report (May 2019)
The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 196.43 million in May 2019, a decrease of 11.91 percent compared to the previous month of April. Year-over-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 41.58 percent on the deficit of May 2018.
Producer Price Index Report, May 2019
Rwanda’s general Producer Price Index combined both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 20.72 percent in May 2019.The monthly general PPI increased by 0.63 percent compared to April 2019. The monthly local PPI increased by 0.65 compared to April 2019, and the monthly Export PPI increased by 0.66 compared to the previous month.
Producer Price Index Report (First Quarter 2019)
Rwanda’s general producer price index, combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 5.96 percent in the first quarter of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, while on quarterly basis it increased by 5.90 percent compared with the fourth quarter 2018. The main drivers for these changes were water supply activities, electricity and manufacturing.
Producer Price Index Report (April 2019)
Rwanda’s general producer price index, combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 11.2 percent in April 2019. The monthly local PPI decreased by 0.02 percent compared to March 2019. This was mainly due to an increase of 90.6 percent in prices of ‘Water supply activities’, and 32.7 percent in prices of ‘electricity and gas activities’.
