Consumer Price Index - June 2022

Rwanda's Consumer Price Index(CPI), main gauge of inflation  increased by 13.7 percent in June 2022 compared to the same month of 2021.

‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 25.1 percent, ‘Housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ increased by 7.9 percent, Transport increased by 11.5 percent and Restaurants and Hotels increased by 14.3 percent.

The CPI for June 2022 increased by 0.8 percent compared to May 2022. ‘Transport’ increased by 3 percent.

The underlying inflation rate (excluding fresh food and energy) increased by 11.2 percent when compared to June 2021 and increased by 0.3 percent when compared to May 2022.

The annual average inflation rate between June 2022 and June 2021 is 4.6 percent. The annual average underlying inflation rate is 5 percent.
