Rwanda's Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 21.6 percent in December 2022 compared to the same month of 2021.
‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 44.3 percent, ‘Housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ increased by 9.1 percent and Transport increased by 12.9 percent. The CPI for December 2022 was stable compared to November 2022.
The underlying inflation rate (excluding fresh food and energy) increased by 15.4 percent when compared to December 2021 and increased by 1.1 percent when compared to November 2022.
The annual average inflation rate between December 2022 and December 2021 is 13.9 percent. The annual average underlying inflation rate is 11.1 percent.
