Consumer Price Index - April 2022

Rwanda's Consumer Price Index(CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 9.9 percent in April 2022 compared to the same month of 2021.

‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 15.7 percent, ‘Housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ increased by 8.8 percent, Transport increased by 7 percent and Restaurants and Hotels increased by 15 percent. 

The CPI for April 2022 increased by 2.4 percent compared to March 2022. 'Food and non alcoholic beverages’ increased by 5.5 percent and Transport increased by 3.3 percent. 
 
The underlying inflation rate (excluding fresh food and energy) increased by 9.1 percent when compared to April 2021 and increased by 1.8 percent when compared to March 2022.

The annual average inflation rate between April 2022 and April 2021 is 2.4 percent. The annual average underlying inflation rate is 3.2 percent.
