Consumer Price Index - July 2022

Rwanda's Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 15.6 percent in July 2022 compared to the same month of 2021.

‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 28.6 percent, ‘Housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ increased by 7.5 percent, Transport increased by 12.4 percent and Restaurants and Hotels increased by 17.2 percent.

The CPI for July 2022 increased by 1.7 percent compared to June 2022. ‘Food and non alcoholic beverages’ increased by 2.9 percent. 
 
The underlying inflation rate (excluding fresh food and energy) increased by 12.5 percent when compared to July 2021 and increased by 1.2 percent when compared to June 2022.

The annual average inflation rate between July 2022 and July 2021 is 5.9 percent. The annual average underlying inflation rate is 6.1 percent.
