Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 7.3 percent year on year in September 2025 up from 7.1 percent in August 2025.
In September 2025, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 4.2 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.3 percent on monthly basis. ‘Alcoholic beverages tobacco and narcotics’ increased by 15 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.6 percent on monthly basis.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased by 4.1 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.9 percent on monthly basis. Health increased by 71.1 percent on annual basis and it was stable on monthly basis. Transport increased by 8.6 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.7 percent on monthly basis. ‘Restaurants and Hotels’ increased by 17.7 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 0.1 percent on monthly basis.
The data also show the “local products” increased by 6.5 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.3 percent on monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 9.5 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.5 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 3.3 percent on annual change and it increased by 1.8 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “energy” increased by 4.5 percent on annual change and it increased by 0.4 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “general Index excluding fresh products and energy” increased by 8.9 percent on annual change and it increased by 1.3 percent on monthly basis.
