Labour Force Survey Trends-May 2021(Q2)
The Labour Force Survey (LFS) programme collect data on employment and labour underutilization characteristics of the population on a continuous basis, providing quarterly estimates of the main labour force aggregates with sufficient precision at the National level since 2016.
GDP - National Accounts (Fiscal Year 2020/21)
In the fiscal year 2020-21, GDP at current market prices was estimated to be Frw 10,279 billion, up from Frw 9402 billion in 2019-20. Services sector contributed 47 percent of GDP, agriculture sector contributed 26 percent of the GDP, Industry sector contributed 19 percent of the GDP while 8 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes and subsidies on products.
GDP National Accounts (Second Quarter 2021)
In the second quarter of 2021, GDP at current market prices was estimated to be Frw 2,665 billion, up from Frw 2,177 billion in Q2 2020. Services continue to lead in terms of shares to GDP with 47 percent compared to 25 percent and 19 percent shares for agriculture and industry respectively. The remainder 9 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes and subsidies on products.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) - August 2021
Urban CPI decreased by 0.6 percent on annual basis (August 2021 and August 2020) and increased by 0.3 percent on monthly basis (August 2021 to July 2021). The annual average inflation rate between August 2021 and August 2020 was 2.6 percent.
Index of Industrial Production (formal activity),July 2021
In July 2021, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) shows that, industrial output (formal sector) increased by 6.2 percent compared to July 2020, against an increase of 9.7 percent on annual average basis.
Producer Price Index Report,July 2021
Rwanda’s general Producer Price Index combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 6.9 percent in July 2021. Monthly general PPI increased by 0.3 percent. Local PPI increased by 3.3 percent in July 2021, and Export PPI increased by 21.1 percent in July 2021.
Formal external trade in Goods report (Q2,2021)
In the second quarter of 2021, Rwanda’s total trade was US$ 1317.93 million, an increase of 30 percent over the second quarter of 2020. Exports were US$ 241.49 million, imports were US$ 961.44 million and re-exports were US$ 114.99 million.
Formal external trade in Goods report (July 2021)
The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 226.36 million in July 2021, an increase of 18.28 per cent compared to the previous month of June. Year-over-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 82.72 per cent on the deficit of July 2020.
