EAC Facts and Figures summary

In accordance with the East African Community (EAC) calendar of activities for the period July - December, 2014, regional statistics have been compiled in the meeting   of National   Experts that was held on 14 - 18th July, 2014 in Kigali, Rwanda. This is done for a regular monitoring and evaluation of progress in national and regional initiatives.

The attached Excel files highlight three subjects’ areas namely; Socio-environment, Macroeconomic and Production statistics that have been compiled this year of 2014.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) - July 2014

In July 2014, the All Urban general Consumer Price index (CPI) increased by 1.9 percent on annual basis and increased by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis. The annual average rate between July 2014 and July 2013 is 3.3 percent.

In June 2014, the All Urban general Consumer Price index (CPI) increased by 1.4 percent on annual basis and decreased by 0.5 percent on monthly basis. The annual average rate between June 2014 and June 2013 is 3.4 percent.

GDP - The 2011 Supply Use Table

A key framework in national economic accounting is the Supply Use Table (SUT). An SUT presents a comprehensive picture of the structure of the economy of a country for a given year in terms of the supply and use of (demand for) all goods and services (products). It has two main purposes. First, it is fundamental to establishing the level of the GDP as a firm basis for up to date annual and quarterly estimates of economic growth. Secondly, it plays a key role in economic analysis in which the effects of policy changes and external shocks can be predicted.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) - May 2014

In May 2014 the All Urban general Consumer Price index (CPI) increased  by 1.9 percent on annual basis and decreased by 0.7 percent on monthly basis. The annual average rate between May 2014 and May 2013 is 3.6 percent.

Producer Price Index Report (First Quarter 2014)

The index for the first  quarter 2014 registered a decrease of 0.22 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter (fourth quarter 2013) and an increase of  0.94 percent compared to the index of the first quarter of the year 2013.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) - April 2014

In April 2014 the All Urban general index is established at 124.5 this stands for an increase of 0.65% over the previous month which was 123.7. In annual change it increased by 2.72% compared to 3.43% in the previous month. This gives a general inflation rate by an annual average of 3.7% during the month of April 2014.

In March 2014 the All Urban general index is established at 123.7 this stands for an increase of 0.68% over the previous month which was 122.9. In annual change it increased by 3.43% compared to 3.45% in the previous month.
