Producer Price Index Report (Fourth Quarter 2012)

In December 2012, the index for products manufactured for sale on the local market stood at 179.25, which reflects a decrease of 0.01 percent compared to the index of the previous month which was 179.26.

The Comprehensive Food Security and Vulnerability Analysis (CFSVA) and Nutrition survey 2012 is the third of its kind conducted in Rwanda, following those of 2006 and 2009. The purpose is to gain a better understanding of the nature and extent of food insecurity and malnutrition in the country. It seeks to analyse trends of food insecurity and malnutrition over time, measuring their extent and depth and identifying their underlying causes.

Consumer Price Index - December 2012

In December 2012 the All Urban general index is established at 116.9 this stands for a decrease of 0.84% over the previous month which was 117.9. In annual change it increased by 3.88% compared to 4.55% in the previous month. This gives a general inflation rate by an annual average of 6.3% during the month of December 2012.

The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) received funds from NSDS Basket Fund and other budgets towards the cost of supply fuel and gasoline for all vehicles used by the NISR for a period of two years.

Rwanda’s Mobile phone penetration rised over past five years

With the recent development of communication facilities, the large majority of Rwandan population has continuously adopted the use of mobile phone as one of the technology platform to share information. Within this move, the mobile phone penetration has impressively increased from 2005 to 2010 across the whole country.
