Producer Price Index Report - August 2023
Rwanda’s general Producer Price Index combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 22.8 percent in August 2023, Local PPI increased by 26 percent in August 2023, and Export PPI increased by 15.5 percent in August 2023.
Formal external trade in Goods report (August 2023)
The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 337.31 million in August 2023, an increase of 6.96 percent compared to the previous month of July. Year-to-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 2 percent on the deficit of August 2022.
Seasonal Agricultural Survey (Season B, 2023)
The NISR has conducted the Seasonal Agriculture Survey for 2022 Season B. The data collection activities started from 2nd May and ended on 30th June 2023, covering 1,200 segments and 345 large-scale farmers’ holdings across the country. Rwanda's total land area is 2.377 million hectares, with 1.345 million hectares (56.6%) dedicated to agriculture in 2023 Season B. Of this, 983,000 hectares were for seasonal crops, 540,000 hectares for permanent crops, and 124,000 hectares for permanent pasture.
Formal external trade in Goods report (Q2,2023)
In the second quarter of 2023, Rwanda’s total trade was US$ 2,197.02 million, an increase of 24.34 percent over the second quarter of 2022. Domestic exports were US$ 484.64 million; imports were US$ 1,548.80 million and re-exports were US$ 164.23 million.

The Rwanda National Institute of Statistics (NISR) has published the 2022 Rwanda Food Balance Sheets (FBS) Dashboard.
Rwanda Food Balance Sheets 2017-2021
The Food Balance Sheets (FBS) 2017-2021 report presents a comprehensive picture of the patterns of Rwanda's food supply and utilization in Rwanda between 2017 and 2021. The compilation of the FBS 2017-2021 follows the international standard guidelines, which are reviewed and updated under the Global Strategy for Improving Agriculture and Rural Statistics.
GDP - National Accounts (Fiscal Year 2022/23)
In the fiscal year 2022-23, GDP at current market prices was estimated at Frw 15,283 billion, up from Frw 11,983 billion in 2021-22. Services sector contributed 45 percent of GDP, agriculture sector contributed 26 percent of GDP, Industry sector contributed 21 percent of GDP, while 7 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes and subsidies on products.
GDP National Accounts (Second Quarter 2023)
In 2023 Q2, GDP at current market prices was estimated at Frw 3,970 billion, up from Frw 3,282 billion in 2022 Q2. Services contributed 45% of GDP, Agriculture contributed 27% of GDP, Industry contributed 20% of GDP while Net direct taxes accounted for 7%.
Consumer Price Index - August 2023
Urban CPI increased by 12.3 percent on annual basis (August 2023 compared to August 2022) and increased by 0.9 percent on monthly basis (August 2023 to July 2023). The annual average inflation rate between August 2023 and August 2022 was 17.5 percent.
