In Quarter four of 2025, GDP at current market prices was estimated at Frw 6,788 billion, up from Frw 5,780 billion in the same quarter of 2024.
In this quarter, services contributed 51% to GDP, agriculture contributed 22% while industry contributed 21%. The remainder 5% was attributed to taxes less subsidies on products.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, GDP grew by 11.2%, following the growth rate of 6.5% in the first quarter, 7.8% in the second quarter and 11.8% in the third quarter. This resulted to an overall growth of 9.4% for the year 2025.
Quarterly Growth rates in sectors were as follow:
- Agriculture increased by 8%.
- Industry increased by 16%.
- Services increased by 8%.
Agriculture
The overall performance of agriculture sector was 8% and contributed 2.0 percentage points to the overall GDP growth rate. Within agriculture, food crops production increased by 4%. The export crops production increased by 42%.
Industry
The overall growth of industry was 16% and contributed 3.4 percentage points to the overall GDP growth rate. Within industry, mining and quarrying increased by 44%, construction activities increased by 17%, while manufacturing activities increased by 11%.
The growth in manufacturing is due to a 20% increase in manufacturing of metal products, machinery & equipment, a 35% increase in manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products, and a 24% increase in manufacturing of chemicals, rubber & plastic products. On the other side, furniture & other manufacturing decreased by 5%.
Services
The overall growth of the services sector was 8% and contributed 3.9 percentage points to the overall GDP growth rate. Within services, wholesale and retail trade increased by 15%, transport activities increased by 13%, while information & communication services increased by 20%, professional, scientific & technical activities increased by 19%, education services increased by 5%. In other hand, Hotel and restaurant decreased by 1%, public administration services decreased by 10% and health services decreased by 40%
