Rwanda's consumer prices up 1.9 pct year on year in May 2014
Rwanda's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, has risen 1.9 percent year on year in May 2014, down from 2.72 percent in April 2014.
The average age of first marriage increased in Rwanda in last three decades
Since the 1978 there has been a trend towards later first marriage for both men and women. The fourth Population and Housing Census conducted in Rwanda in August 2012 (2012RPHC) realized that the average age of first marriage for women climbed from 22.9 years in 1991 to 25 years in 2012, while for men it was 27.4 years in 2012 from 26.8 years both in 1991 and 2002.
Rwanda’s literacy rate rises
The fourth Population and Housing Census in Rwanda conducted in August 2012 (2012 RPHC) shows that 68% of Rwandan population aged 15 years and above were literate while they were 64.4% in 2002. A person is qualified as literate if he/she is able to read, write and understand at least one language. In 2012, males were more literate (72%) than females (65%).
