Formal external trade in Goods report (Q1,2024)
In the first quarter of 2024, Rwanda’s total trade was US$ 2,378.52 million, an increase of 16.21 percent over the first quarter of 2023. Domestic exports are US$ 438.78 million; imports were US$ 1,768.85 million and re-exports were US$ 170.89 million.
Rwanda FinScope 2024 report
This report provides valuable insights into our progress highlighting the importance of current strategies and initiatives in driving financial inclusion. Notably, Rwanda has achieved an impressive 96% financial inclusion rate, with formal inclusion at 92%, surpassing the NST1 target of 90% by 2024.
Establishment Census Report, 2023
The Establishment Census is a valuable source of information on all economic activities by size, formal and informal status of establishments in Rwanda. It provides information that is used to classify establishments according to their size (micro, small, medium, and large) but also formal and informal establishments. The methodology used for data collection and data analysis is quite similar and this helps in comparative analysis with the previous establishment censuses.
Thematic Report: Post Enumeration Survey
The Government of Rwanda through NISR conducted the 5th Rwanda Population and Housing Census (RPHC-5) from 16-30 August ,2022. The 2022 RPHC is the most important project for the NSDS3 and was in line with National development efforts to develop official statistics and a dynamic evidence based for policy decisions. The Census results provide updated demographic, social and economic indicators for policy formulation and planning to support the national development agenda.
GDP National Accounts (First Quarter 2024)
In Q1 of 2024, GDP at current market prices was estimated at Frw 4,486 billion, up from Frw 3,904 billion in Q1 of 2023. Services contributed 46 percent to GDP, agriculture contributed 25 percent while industry contributed 23 percent. Net direct taxes accounted for 7 percent.
Formal external trade in Goods report (April 2024)
The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 330.31 million in April 2024, a decrease of 17.46 percent compared to the previous month of March 2024. Year-to-year, the formal trade in goods deficit increased by 28.73 percent on the deficit of April 2023.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) - May 2024
Urban CPI increased by 5.8 percent on annual basis (May 2024 compared to May 2023) and stable on monthly basis (May 2024 to April 2024). The annual average inflation rate between May 2024 and May 2023 was 8.4 percent.
Index of Industrial Production (April-2024)
In April 2024, the industrial output (formal sector) increased by 31.3 percent compared to April 2023, against an increase of 4.8 percent on annual average basis.
Producer Price Index Report - April 2024
Rwanda’s general Producer Price Index combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 10 percent in April 2024, Local PPI increased by 7 percent in April 2024, and Export PPI increased by 18.9 percent in April 2024.
Seasonal Agricultural Survey (Season A, 2024)
NISR has conducted the Seasonal Agriculture Survey to provide more comprehensive data on the Rwandan agriculture sector. During 2024 Season A, the data collection activities started from December 3rd, 2023, and was concluded on March 28th, 2024, covering 1,200 segments and 370 large scale farmers’ holdings across the country.
