Formal external trade in Goods report (August 2021)
The deficit in the balance of formal trade in goods was US$ 216.43 million in August 2021, a decrease of 4.39 per cent compared to the previous month of July. Year-over-year, the formal trade in goods deficit decreased by 7.32 per cent on the deficit of August 2020.
Index of Industrial Production (formal activity),August 2021
In August 2021, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) shows that, industrial output (formal sector) increased by 14.8 percent compared to August 2020, against an increase of 11.9 percent on annual average basis.
Producer Price Index Report,August 2021
Rwanda’s general Producer Price Index combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual increase of 4.5 percent in August 2021. Monthly general PPI decreased by 1.6 percent. Local PPI increased by 1.9 percent in August 2021, and Export PPI increased by 13.9 percent in August 2021.

GDP - National Accounts (Fiscal Year 2020/21)
In the fiscal year 2020-21, GDP at current market prices was estimated to be Frw 10,279 billion, up from Frw 9402 billion in 2019-20. Services sector contributed 47 percent of GDP, agriculture sector contributed 26 percent of the GDP, Industry sector contributed 19 percent of the GDP while 8 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes and subsidies on products.
GDP National Accounts (Second Quarter 2021)
In the second quarter of 2021, GDP at current market prices was estimated to be Frw 2,665 billion, up from Frw 2,177 billion in Q2 2020. Services continue to lead in terms of shares to GDP with 47 percent compared to 25 percent and 19 percent shares for agriculture and industry respectively. The remainder 9 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes and subsidies on products.
Establishment Census Report, 2020
The Establishment Census is a valuable source of information on all economic activities by size, formal and informal status of establishments in Rwanda. It provides information that is used to classify establishments according to their size (micro, small, medium, and large) but also formal and informal establishments. The methodology used for data collection and data analysis is quite similar and this helps in comparative analysis with the previous establishment censuses.
